WILDS: A Space for Connection and Growth

And that’s exactly what Women in Logistics and Delivery Services (WILDS) has created—a space for connection, collaboration, and growth.

Founded in 2006 by Postal Regulatory Commissioner Ruth Goldway and attorney Joy Leong, WILDS was born out of a simple yet impactful idea: women needed more opportunities to connect and lead in this industry. What started as a small meeting to address the lack of female representation at events has grown into a nonprofit that welcomes members from all corners of the logistics world—public and private sectors alike.

WILDS is more than just a networking group; it’s a community that celebrates leadership, supports growth, and creates opportunities for everyone involved. And while the focus is on empowering women, men (affectionately called “MILDS”) are always welcome as allies.

The History and Impact of WILDS

WILDS held its first official event in October 2006, and by the following year, it had grown into a nonprofit with quarterly events. Today, it’s a regular fixture at major industry gatherings like the National Postal Forum (NPF) and Mailers Technical Advisory Committee (MTAC) meetings. These events aren’t just about networking—they’re about celebrating achievements, sharing ideas, and building relationships that make the logistics industry feel more connected and welcoming.

Honoring Leadership: The Megan J. Brennan Award

WILDS also does an incredible job of recognizing leaders who make a difference in our field. One highlight of their work is the Megan J. Brennan Award for Excellence, named after the first female Postmaster General of the United States.

This January, Maureen Goodson, Executive Director of the National Postal Forum, was honored as the 4th annual recipient of this prestigious award. Maureen’s career is nothing short of inspiring. She joined NPF in 1996, starting as Manager of Registration and becoming Executive Director in 2013. Over the years, she transformed NPF into the industry’s premier educational event, building partnerships and creating opportunities that have left a lasting impact.

When receiving the award, Maureen called it “the honor of a lifetime.” Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, who presented the award, praised her dedication, saying:

“Her commitment to providing postal customers with the best education and networking opportunities at the National Postal Forum has been of the highest caliber.”

How You Can Get Involved

WILDS offers something for everyone, whether you’re new to the logistics industry or a seasoned professional. They host events throughout the year, including receptions at key gatherings like NPF. Engineering Innovation was proud to sponsor WILDS’ 2024 NPF Dessert Reception last year, supporting their mission to bring people together.

If you’re looking to expand your network, learn from industry leaders, or just meet like-minded professionals, I highly recommend checking them out. You can visit shedelivers.org to sign up, stay updated on events, and learn more about becoming a member.

Author’s Note

Hi, I’m Allie Collier. If you’ve read our blog or newsletter before, chances are you’ve come across something I’ve written—so, hello again! I wanted to take a moment to share why organizations like WILDS matter on a personal level.

I’ve been fortunate to work for Eii, a company that values collaboration and actively supports initiatives like WILDS. Thanks to groups like this, the logistics industry feels smaller, more connected, and a lot more welcoming. Women aren’t just joining this field—they’re excelling in it. And while I’m just a small part of this growing movement, I’m proud to contribute to an industry that’s evolving in such meaningful ways.

If you’re looking for a community that celebrates leadership, fosters collaboration, and creates growth opportunities, WILDS is an incredible place to start.
